Tenacious D entertains fans at sold out Surly Festival Field
On the second-to-last date of their 2022 summer tour, Tenacious D played a raucous and completely entertaining show to a sold our Surly Festival Field. Donning t-shirts from nearly every band you could imagine, the crowd had a love of Tenacious D in common and it was a gorgeous late summer night in Minneapolis for a concert.
After a hilarious and slightly perverse set by DJ Douggpound, Tenacious D took the stage at 8:15pm just as the sky darkened. Singer, Jack Black, strolled out holding a lit globe and walked the front of the stage while the crowd screamed on. The show started with a bang and several songs in Tenacious D ripped through their 2012 hit “Rize of the Fenix“.
Right after Black exclaimed, “we have to dance before we rock” and the band unleashed a funky version of “Sax-a-Boom” while Jack Black played a plastic saxophone. “Roadie” was another great song played shortly after that had the crowd rocking along.
Tenacious D at Surly Festival Field was pure joy. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard while rocking out at the same time and hope they make it back to Minneapolis again soon.
