Snail Mail brings Lush to First Avenue in Minneapolis
Snail Mail is the solo project of Maryland singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan. After releasing her debut album Lush on Matador Records in 2018, the 20 year-old has garnered quite a buzz in the indie rock scene. She sold out 7th Street Entry last year, and Twin Cities fans nearly filled First Avenue to capacity again on her return to Minneapolis on Monday, July 15.
All smiles, she started the show loosely with her single “Heat Wave” and it sounded nice from the front of the stage. Jordan and her band took a few songs to dial things in, and by the middle of the set the warm tones of her Fender Jaguar expanded through First Avenue with a welcoming aura of sound. “Pristine” was especially great in the middle of the set.
No stranger to her music, the crowd sang along all night and there were good vibes. At the end of Snail Mail’s set, Jordan played a brand new song solo asking the crowd not to share it out. The show ended with the beautiful slow and swinging “Stick“. Although Snail Mail at First Avenue was relatively short in length, there was a lot of sweetness in the air. With the buzz she’s creating, I have a feeling it won’t be too long before we see her again.
