Atlas Genius at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis

Atlas Genius, Family of the Year and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. at Varsity Theater

On a headlining tour to support their 2013 release When It Was Now, Australian alt-rock band Atlas Genius played a very fine set at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis to a near capacity all-age crowd. Their set was much more upbeat and rocking than when they opened for Silversun Pickups a year ago at the State Theatre.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. opened the night with a rushed set that unfortunately was cut short before the band got to finish with arguably their biggest hit, “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)“. California band Family of the Year played second, and sang with brilliant harmonies, but their music lacked dynamics and didn’t do a lot for me. Atlas Genius however was very impressive.
