Ty Segall blasts First Avenue with garage rock greatness
Wavering between a psychedelic 60’s sound and straight up punk rock, Ty Segall blasted First Avenue with an epic performance that won’t soon be forgotten. On tour to support his 2018 release Freedom’s Goblin, the prolific California artist and his band drove the show with heavy unstoppable rhythm and crunchy guitars. The head-bobbing capacity crowd at First Avenue engulfed it up, and I can’t imagine a better venue to see Segall at.
Compared to his last stop at First Avenue with his band The Muggers, Ty Segall was all business this time around. Only pausing once between songs to state his appreciation, Segall pushed the show forward with his foot on the fuzz pedal and hair flying. It was an incredible show heavy on older tunes from his catalog, and I’m so glad I was there to see it live. Ty Segall absolutely rocked First Avenue.
