The Postal Service at Roy Wilkins Auditorium
The Postal Service last played in the Twin Cities ten years ago at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis. Singer, Ben Gibbard, joked to the large crowd at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul that all you have to do is play The Entry, then do nothing but wait ten years and you’ll be headlining auditoriums.
Roy Wilkins Auditorium was comfortably full and sounded as good as I’ve heard as The Postal Service delivered a fine performance of songs from their lone album Give Up that was rereleased this year with several bonus tracks. Jenny Lewis was a welcome addition to the touring band, as was The Mynabirds lead, Laura Burhenn, who provided back up vocals. The light show was fantastic as well.
