Teenage Fanclub fills Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis
Thank you for coming everyone. You know you could be at home watching American Idol or Dancing with the Stars.
Teenage Fanclub just released Here, their first new album in six years. It has been just as long since Minneapolis has seen the alternative rock band from Bellshill, Scotland. This time however, rather than playing First Avenue, the band filled the smaller Fine Line Music Cafe in what was an intimate and fun show on one of the few stops of their short American tour.
Some of the highlights of the show were the excellent new single “I’m in Love” from Here, “The Concept” from their big 1991 album Bandwagonesque, and “Sparky’s Dream” from the 1995 album Grand Prix. Far gone are the 1990s when Teenage Fanclub’s popularity spiked, but by the looks of the many bobbing heads and sing-alongs at Fine Line, the band’s music is still very much alive today. Here is an excellent new release and definitely worth checking out. The mix of 40-50 year-old dads, and younger alternative rockers in the crowd at the Fine Line in Minneapolis seemed to very much agree.
