Rock the Garden 2013 lineup
Today Minnesota public radio station 89.3 The Current announced who will be playing Rock the Garden 2013 at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 15. The annual event is a big one for Minneapolis, with last year’s tickets selling out within an hour. I am anxious to see what the Minneapolis music scene thinks about this year’s lineup. I, for one, think it looks awesome!
Rock the Garden 2013 lineup:
- Metric – I have my doubts that there will be the same measure of intimacy as the show I photographed at the State Theatre last September, but Metric should be an fantastic headliner. They rock with high energy, are very danceable, and brought really nice light show. See photos and my review from their September 11, 2012 show. This was one of my favorite shows of 2012.
- Silversun Pickups – Just ten days after Metric last year, I also photographed Silversun Pickups at the State Theatre. This was another standout show of 2012 for me, straight up pounding rock music. I feel a lot of people do not know about Silversun Pickups yet, but after Rock the Garden they should have plenty of new fans. See photos and my review from their September 21, 2012 show.
- Bob Mould – The ex Hüsker Dü frontman is a legend of punk and rock music. And he also hails from Minneapolis. I haven’t seen Bob before, and am looking forward to it. This should bring out some fans who used to pump their fists in the 80s and early 90s.
- Low – This will be the most mellow set of the day, but it should be great. Low is another Minnesota band, hailing from Duluth. They have been around and making music for 20 years for good reason.
- Dan Deacon – I do not know much about Dan Deacon, but he sounds interesting. He also looks kind of nerdy which is a good thing.
Rock the Garden 2013 tickets go on sale to Walker Art Center and The Current/Minnesota Public Radio members at 11am, Friday, April 19. Walker/The Current/Minnesota Public Radio membership ID numbers will be required for all pre-sale purchases. Remaining tickets will go on sale to the public at 11 am, Saturday, April 20.
