Matt & Kim host booty shakin’ dance party at First Avenue

So much fun at First Avenue!!! Matt & Kim were back in the Twin Cities, just three months after their performance at Summer Set Festival across the river in Somerset, WI back in August. With this show being all ages, First Avenue was filled near capacity with an abundance of teenagers. It’s been my experience that all ages shows can be annoying, but on this night, the younger crowd brought the energy — turning First Avenue into a bouncing dance party. The only people who seemed to be having more fun than the crowd, were the duo from Brooklyn, NY, Matt & Kim. Taunting the crowd all night to raise the energy, the band finally admitted that towards the end of the set that we broke into their top three shows of the tour, nudging out either San Diego, CA, Lawrence, KS, or Salt Lake City, UT. Matt Johnson also admitted that this was by far their best show ever in Minneapolis. Booty shaking, booty spanking, pop music goodness…what’s not to like?

Matt & Kim are on tour in support of their brand new album Lightning. Fellow Brooklyn band, Oberhofer opened the show.
