Local Natives at First Avenue in Minneapolis
Local Natives sell out First Avenue
Los Angeles indie band Local Natives rocked a completely packed First Avenue Mainroom on Saturday, March 23, 2013. On tour to support their very nice sophomore album Hummingbird that was released in January of this year, the band played spot on and had the mostly college aged crowd jumping all night. This was my first time seeing the band, and they were great, blending nice harmonies with a strong percussive backbone. The result was a bouncy mix of tunes that was quite enjoyable.
Opening the night was Superhumanoids. Their set was a flat line of mellow electo-rock goodness with a touch of 80s synth. The music had unwavering dynamics that made it easy to get lost in if you closed your eyes. Pretty good stuff.
