HÆLOS play beautiful set at 7th Street Entry
London, UK ethereal rock band HÆLOS were greeted with a warm welcome on their first ever Minneapolis stop on Saturday, April 9. HÆLOS sound like fellow Englanders The XX crossed with Jungle, holding a dark upbeat vibe that was contagious from the very beginning.
Their debut album Full Circle was just released last month on Matador Records. It is a fantastic album, and the band played every song but one from it. By the time HÆLOS took the stage, 7th Street Entry was near capacity and they drove home a rhythm-heavy performance to those of us fortunate enough to be there. At one moment early on, a concert-goer was so overjoyed with happiness that he asked for a hug. Singer Arthur Delaney obliged the man, stepping down from the stage and wrapping his arms around him. On what was a cool and windy spring night in Minneapolis, The Entry was plenty warm.
Although the entire set sounded wonderful, “Full Circle” hit home hard. “Earth Not Above” was also great and one of the most percussive songs, with the two drummers laying down a thumping snare heavy beat. Singers Lotti Benardout and Arthur Delaney harmonized together beautifully throughout the set, softening the otherwise edgy electro sound. I feel so fortunate to have seen HÆLOS at 7th Street Entry. You should check this band out immediately.
