Destroyer at Fine Line Music Cafe

Destroyer stumbles through Minneapolis stop

Destroyer, the baroque pop band led by Vancouver, BC songwriter Dan Bejar, made a stop in Minneapolis at Fine Line Music Cafe. On tour to support the very well received 2015 release Poison Season, Bejar stumbled through the set on the shoulders of the backing band who played spot on and drove the show.

Lyrically, Bejar’s poetic songwriting is very interesting. But on this night it was the band that stood out more, as Bejar who moved from singing to drinking and appeared glossed over and slightly disinterested. It was still great to see Destroyer in Minneapolis however, and I’m glad I made it out. For an artist who has been around since the 90s, it was a a surprisingly young crowd that nearly filled the venue for the show.
