Warren Haynes Band shines at the Fitz

Warren Haynes knows the road well.  The accomplished professional exemplifies the touring musician, and since the early 80’s, the curves on the highway have brought Haynes a multitude of opportunities to show his strengths as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter.  Whether performing with David Allen Coe, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, or his own hard-rocking blues outfit, Gov’t Mule, Warren Haynes has always shown the world that he is a consistent professional willing to take on any musical challenge.

His broad experience is especially evident in his newly assembled Warren Haynes Band who made a stop at the intimate Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011.  On tour to support last May’s release of Man in Motion, the band played like they had been together ages, effortlessly fusing blues, jazz, rock and funk with a huge dose of soul.  The mostly middle aged crowd, many wearing Gov’t Mule gear, ate the show up with appreciation.  The small and cozy Fitzgerald Theater was the perfect venue for Warren Haynes.  With a large smile in between songs, his gentle and easy nature showed through.  The band opened with “Man in Motion” and finished the night with “Soulshine”.  The two sets in between were exceptional.
